NEW BUILD

February 2015

Over the last month considerable progress has been made in preparing the construction site.  Much of the focus has been on creating a new access road from the A73. To this end considerable excavation work has taken place, with a large mound of material becoming increasingly prominent at the far side of the new campus. (see images).

In addition trees have been cleared across the site. Most notable in terms of tree removal were the poplars that dominated the school yard area, and their toppling drew considerable attention from pupils and staff. (see image).

The 27th January marked an important milestone in the construction of the new building, when the official turf cutting ceremony took place for the new campus. A number of dignitaries including the Convenor of Learning & Leisure Services, Jim Logue, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages, Dr Alasdair Allen, representatives of the construction company, local Councillors and others were in attendance for this auspicious occasion.
